Week 1, 2, & 3: Once you receive the email with the exam questions, you should begin forming your answers immediately. Spend the first 3 weeks preparing your responses.
- Read through each question.
- Make sure you understand what is being asked.
- Keep organized notes for each of your answers.
- Remember to write down any helpful sources (links or citations, etc.), so that you can find them again.
- Review past course material that addresses the question.
- Find relevant sources to support your answers in the Library Databases. (Ask a Librarian for help.)
- Consult AI chat generators to help refine your answers and offer additional ideas. Important: Use AI to enhance, not replace, your critical thinking process.
- To answer each question, you should be able to:
- Define relevant terms
- Explain what the question is asking
- Provide a clear answer and support your answer with evidence (e.g. articles, course material, real-life examples, internship experience, etc.)
- Be prepared to give examples from what you learned in Lincoln courses that help answer the question (be specific)
- Be prepared to provide examples from real-life situations that help explain/support your answer (be specific)
- Ask yourself: What might the committee ask? Be prepared to answer those questions.
- Ask yourself: What are the potential issues with my answer? Be prepared to confidently address those.
Week 4: Spend the last week reviewing your answers, practicing your responses out loud, and making any adjustments. Consider doing the following:
- Practice in front of the mirror.
- Practice in front of your friends.
- Arrange a meeting with a Presentation Coach or Librarian for a mock exam.
- Record yourself for self-assessment.
- Make any needed adjustments.
- Repeat.
